Request to Inspect Public Records

    As provided for in the Inspection of Public Records Act, Section 14-2-1 through 14-2-16, NMSA 1978, the Village of Los Lunas and its employees who have in their possession public records are obligated to make such records available upon proper request by third parties. Please complete the following information to process your request:

    Per State Statute, IPRA requests must include a phone number to contact you. If you prefer contact by email, please be sure to enter an email address above. 

  3. Please describe the public records you wish to receive. In order to expediate the search for the records, please include the dates/date range of your requested records and be as specific as possible with your request.

  5. Copying Costs

    In accordance with Section 14-2-9 NMSA - Procedure for Inspection, the Village may charge reasonable fees for copying public records. These fees are approved through the Notice of Right to Inspect Public Records. I understand that I may be asked to pay the fee for copies in advance of the copies being made if the cost exceeds $25.00. A receipt shall be provided indicating the copying charges.

    Copying Charges:

    • Documents 11"x17" or smaller: $0.50 per page
    • Documents larger than 11"x17": Actual duplication cost.
    • Other media such as photographs, colored documents, tape recordings, etc.: Actual supplies cost.
    • Electronic records, if available, sent via email or file transfer: No cost.

    The Village shall provide a copy of a public record in electronic format if the public record is available in electronic format and an electronic copy is specifically requested. However, a custodian is only required to provide the electronic record in the file format in which it exists at the time of the request. The requestor is not entitled to specify the file format of an electronic record.

    The Village will respond to this request within three business days of receipt by the records custodian. Inspection of responsive records will be permitted no later than fifteen days after receipt of the request. If the request is deemed to be excessively burdensome to fulfill, the records custodian will provide written notification to the requestor within fifteen days of receipt that additional time will be needed to respond.
