The Code Enforcement Division ensures compliance with the Village of Los Lunas's codes and ordinances regarding property maintenance, zoning, land use, nuisance, and health and safety, which may include:
Overgrown weeds
Inoperable vehicles
Accumulation of rubbish and debris
Building without a permit
Land use violations
Operating a business without a registration
etc.
If your property or business is found to have a code violation, our officers will contact you with the primary goal of education and work with you to achieve voluntary compliance. However, if voluntary compliance cannot be achieved or the violation poses an imminent threat to public safety, a citation to the Municipal Court will be issued.
What is My Code Enforcement District?
To find your Code Enforcement District and the assigned officer's information, enter your address into the Community Map.
Click on the "Layers" tab in the top right corner.
Click on "Zoning" to turn off the default layer.
Click on "Code Enforcement Districts" to display the district boundaries.
In addition to Code Enforcement, our officers are also Animal Control, working to ensure the health and safety of animals and residents within the community. Their responsibilities include:
Pet registrations.
Enforcing local animal control ordinances.
Investigating reports of animal cruelty and nuisances.
Managing issues related to stray or dangerous animals.
