Street Division

Overview

The Street Division is responsible for maintaining 52 miles of paved roads and eight (8) miles of gravel roads and 156 acres of storm water retention ponds within the Village limits; in addition to handling pothole repairs, overseeing the upkeep of sidewalks, maintaining street signage and supporting other departments in the construction and maintenance of parking facilities.

 Division goals include:

  • Ensure Safe Streets: Keep streets in a safe and well maintained condition within budgetary constraints. 
  • Prompt Repairs: Address and repair reported pot-holes and sidewalks within 24 hours.
  • Update Signage: Upgrade Street and traffic control signs within the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • Support Community Emergencies: Provide assistance during various types of community emergencies utilizing available division resources.
  • Enhance Landscapes: Maintain street landscapes and trees with water conservation and arborist techniques to reduce maintenance costs and improve the community’s natural environment.
  • Optimize Street Sweeping: Sweep all Village owned streets to maintain effective water storm drainage, use GPS tracking to maintain balanced neighborhood services, and improve community aesthetics by removing dirt and trash. Support the Village of Los Lunas "Quality of Life" campaign through these efforts.
