If you are a Village resident and plan on conducting a controlled/open burn in the Village limits you must first obtain a burn permit in accordance with Village Ordinance 8.12.040.

An application may be obtained from the Los Lunas Fire Department located at 465 E. Main St. Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Burn Permits are valid for two weeks from the date of application for permit and are of no charge to the public.

The rules for open burning are listed on the permit. If you are found to be burning without a valid permit, you could be issued a citation to court for ordinance violation and may be subject to a fine, and/or jail time.
