The Community Services Department understands quality of life is vital to the residents of Los Lunas. Recently, the parks and recreation department had the opportunity to progress even more in quality of life by accepting the street department as another division within the department. This change will work more effectively as a unified “department” – in both form and substance – with a unified purpose and vision. This realignment will improve efficiency by maximizing equipment and personnel by consolidating existing functions to further the goal of “Quality of Life” for the residents of the Village of Los Lunas.

Integrating functions around common activities will enable us to focus on our core strengths, and allow us to leverage our resources for the benefit of our community.  Consolidation of professional and technical expertise enables us to engage in a higher degree of long-term planning and focus the Capital Improvement planning for the Village.

The Community Services Department is responsible for managing a comprehensive and ambitious improvement program designed to meet the current and future needs of the community and to protect the Village’s physical and natural assets.  Capital projects include improvements to the Village’s roads, intersection, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signals, street lighting, public buildings, parks, open space and recreation programs.
